What to do in Saquarema

The city
The city is a surfing spot on the coast of Rio de Janeiro, and Praia de Itaúna is where it is concentrated. On the headland between the beach and the Lagoa de Saquarema stands the Igreja de Nossa Senhora de Nazareth, from 1675, raised to a parish in 1755. Besides the central area and Itaúna, the city takes in Boqueirão, Barra Nova, Bacaxá, Vilatur, Massambaba and Jaconé.
Getting there
Saquarema has no airport: the closest one with commercial flights is Cabo Frio International Airport (CFB). By land, the city is served by the RJ-106, the Rodovia Amaral Peixoto, and by the RJ-128, and is crossed by the RJ-124, the Via Lagos, which leaves the BR-101 at Rio Bonito.
