What to do in São Pedro da Aldeia
The city
The city is covered between the shore of the Lagoa de Araruama and the historic central area. The Igreja Matriz de São Pedro, also called the Igreja dos Jesuítas, marks the point where the settlement was founded in 1617; building started in 1620 and was finished in 1783. On the shore, Ponta dos Cardeiros is one of the calm-water strips of sand of the lagoon, which is the largest permanent hypersaline lagoon in the world.

Getting there
São Pedro da Aldeia has no airport with commercial flights: the closest one is Cabo Frio International Airport (CFB), in the city next to it. By land, access to the Lakes Region is via the RJ-124, the Via Lagos, and the city is also served by the RJ-106 and the RJ-140.
