What to do in Rio das Ostras

The city

The waterfront is covered between Praia do Centro, Boca da Barra and Praia da Tartaruga. There is surfing at Praia de Costazul, and between Praia da Joana and Praça da Baleia, where the sculpture of a humpback whale stands, the coast is rocky shore. Near the Costazul bridge a preserved mangrove area begins, and the Lagoa de Iriry, with its dark water, is a protected area.
