The city
Cabo Frio is covered between the urban seafront and the Itajuru channel. Praia do Forte is opposite the central area, Forte São Mateus marks the southern tip of it, and Praia do Peró and Praia das Conchas are to the north, already outside the built-up area.

Getting there
Cabo Frio has an airport of its own, Cabo Frio International Airport (CFB). By land, access to the Lakes Region is via the RJ-124, the Via Lagos, and there are bus services from Rio de Janeiro.
