What to do in Araruama

The city

The city runs along the shore of the Lagoa de Araruama, the largest permanent hypersaline lagoon in the world. In the central area, the Fazenda Aurora, a neoclassical building put up in 1862, houses the archaeological museum, and the former Ponte dos Leites railway station keeps a steam locomotive on display. The Lagoa de Juturnaíba, shared with Silva Jardim, lies inland.
